La conservation et le service

Know about champagne :

AGEING AND STORING :

Champagne must be kept always lying in a cool place, well away from light. Indeed, sparkle conservation depends on this position. The corks we use being made from first-rate cork, our customers should be aware that after a while, the cork will not regain its original shape, without the quality of the cork being put in doubt.

Serve champagne cool but not iced. Ideal temperature is 6-8°C. Avoid storing in fridge for a long time as this would "kill" the wine. Always prefer a bucket half-filled with water and ice.

QUANTITY AND BOTTLE SIZES :

Which bottle size to choose ? What is a Salmanazar, a Jeroboam, a Mathusalem ? If I invite three couples for a champagne dinner, how many bottles should I need ? You'll find the answer to those questions in this table you should always keep handy.

Storing champagne :

DID YOU KNOW THAT ?
CHAMPAGNE TRAVELS BETTER THAN STILL WINES

Indeed, the cork's very high density (its diameter is squeezed from 31 to 17 mm to fit the neck of the bottle) severely limits the entry of outside air. Oxygen having disappeared during in-bottle fermentation, champagne is protected by carbon dioxide (the gas dissolved in the wine will produce bubbles when the bottle is opened). Therefore, wine disruption is minimal during transport.

Storing champagne :

HOW LONG CAN YOU STORE CHAMPAGNE ?

When you order a bottle of Leclerc Briant champagne, it has already spent several years resting in our cellars. Long ageing partly explains the retail price of your favourite wine.

There's no need for you to continue ageing your champagne. In practice, you can keep non-vintage Bruts 3 to 4 years and vintage cuvées 5 to 10 years in a cool dry place. But you won't have to wait that long as you will surely find an opportunity to quickly enjoy your favourite cuvées with friends.
